Matti Klein: "As a kid, I was fond of Maceo Parker and had a strong affection for Keith Jarrett and Michel Petrucciani. I was listening to Stevie Wonder and James Brown a lot. But no, I don't think my music strictly derives from my early experiences as a listener. As a musician, my horizons are significantly broader and dynamic. They encompass much of electronica and world music. There are too many influences to point, all so diverse. I also play classical music. The spectrum is much larger than one can perceive and especially so when we play all together. But we do have to reduce it to create a signature sound which at times and to some may appear as though it has a singular and definite source."
